Course Description

Creativity is an essential skill for educators who need to respond to diverse learner needs, increase engagement and find innovative solutions to everyday educational challenges. But how can educators move beyond familiar approaches and turn creative ideas into practical solutions?

Creativity and Design Thinking in Education is a hands-on course that introduces educators to Design Thinking as a practical framework for creative and learner-centred problem-solving. Participants will experience the five stages of the Design Thinking process: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test – applying them to real challenges from their educational institutions.

Through practical activities, participants will experiment with techniques such as empathy mapping, learner personas, the 5 Whys, brainstorming, SCAMPER, mind mapping, visual thinking and rapid prototyping. Creativity will be combined with critical thinking, collaboration and peer feedback to help participants generate, evaluate, test and improve their ideas.

During the days, participants will work individually or in teams on a real challenge from their own educational setting. Using the Design Thinking process, they will explore the challenge, generate ideas, develop and test a prototype, and improve their solution based on feedback. By the end of the course, participants will leave with practical creativity tools, experience in applying Design Thinking and a concrete educational solution that they can further develop and use in their own context

Certification & Validation of Learning Outcomes

Participants receive a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the course. Upon request, EMPHASYS also supports participants and their sending organisations with the documentation required for the recognition and validation of their Erasmus+ mobility, including the Europass Mobility document and relevant mobility documentation.

Additional documentation can be provided upon request to support mobility reporting, recognition and dissemination requirements.

Cultural Activities

Participants can enrich their stay in Cyprus through a range of cultural and social activities, including guided city tours, visits to cultural and heritage sites, traditional villages, nature destinations and other local experiences.

Additional fees may apply for full-day excursions and journeys, depending on transportation, entrance fees and the selected activity.

European Networking & Exchange of Practices

EMPHASYS courses offer opportunities to connect with educators, trainers and professionals from across Europe, exchange experiences, educational practices and ideas, build professional connections and explore opportunities for future cooperation and partnerships.
